Nesar Uddin made Betar DG
Additional Secretary of the Women and Children Affairs Ministry AKM Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan has been appointed as the new director general (DG) of Bangladesh Betar.
Nesar belongs to the 1982 regular batch of BCS (information) cadre and served as information officer at 12 ministries, said a press release.
Prior to joining the state-owned organisation, Nesar worked as the press secretary to incumbent President Abdul Hamid and former President Zillur Rahman in different periods.
He also worked as the DG of National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMCO).
Nesar Uddin's wife Nasrin Sultana is serving as a system analyst at Bangladesh Water Development Board.

Bakery fined Tk2 lakh in Ctg

A mobile court yesterday fined a bakery to Tk 200,000 in Gosaildanga area under Double Mooring Police Station in Chittagong.
As the mobile court found that Rahamania Bakery was making butter cream using sugar and Dalda (Heydrogenated vegetable oil) in an unhygienic environment. They were adding the adulteration cream in breads. Moreover the bakery items were found frying by old (burnt) oil. During the drive the court seized huge amount of adulterated foods  and burnt oil and destroyed the foods in nearby drain.
The mobile court was led by Mohammad Ruhul Amin, revenue deputy collector (RDC) and executive magistrate of Chittagong District Administration.
“The bakery was producing food items in an unhygienic environment. They were frying foods items by burnt oil. We have found them making butter cream by Dalda and sugar. We have fined the errant bakery to Tk2 lakh,” said Ruhul Amin.
 
‘Robber’ beaten to death

An alleged robber was killed in a mass beating in Baghanagar Bridge area under Arhaihazar upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. The incident took place one day after lynching of three suspected robbers by mob in Rupganj Upazila of the district on Saturday.
Sub- Inspector of Arhaihazar Thana Salim said a robber gang of 7 to 8 had halted a motorbike rider on Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
Hearing screaming of the victim, the villagers rushed to the spot and caught one of the gang members, while others fled away.
Police rescued the man who was mercilessly beaten by mob, and took him to the local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
