DU THM dept alumni assoc formed
A 21-member convening committee of Dhaka University Tourism Hospitality Management Alumni Association (DUTHMAA) has been formed at a meeting on Sunday evening.
Former students of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) department --Abu Rayhan Sarker, chairman of Vision Tours and Travels; and Rassel Nijam, CEO of Easy Soft; have been selected as the convener and member secretary of the organisation respectively.
The meeting with the former students of the department was held at the office room of the department on the campus.
Chairman Dr Saker Ahmed, Prof Dr Syed Rashidul Hasan, Prof Dr Md Afzal Hossain, Assistant Professor Md Bodruzzaman Bhuiyan of Tourism and Hospitality Management department, addressed the meeting, among others.
The speakers hoped that the alumni association will work to strengthen the communication among the former and current students of the department as well as for the development of tourism sector using its hidden potentiality.
The full committee will be formed within December 31 this year. All the former students of the department are requested to contract at the department to register their names as the member of the organisation.
Two-day Pitha Utsab held at SAU
A 2-day pitha utsab (cake festival) concluded on Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) campus in the capital on Friday.
Md Shadat Ulla, vice-chancellor of SAU, inaugurated the programme as chief guest while Md Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan, pro-vice chancellor of SAU, Md Sekender Ali, director, student affairs of SAU, Md Samiul ALam Liton, Managing director, Krrishibid Bangladesh Limited, were the special guests.
Md Kamal Uddin Ahmed, dean, faculty of agriculture of SAU, presided over the inauguration ceremony. SAU vice-chancellor appreciated the organisers and visited different stalls along with the guests. Nine cultural and social student organisations- SAU Debating Society, SAU Language Club, SAU Rovers Scout, SAU Bandhusova, SAU Sahhitto Sangshod, Sopnoshiri, Badhon, Saptak, SAU Photographic Society participated in the programme which organised by SAU Bandhusova in the support of Krrishibid Bangladesh Limited. A colorful cultural programme was held on Friday.
