Bangladesh imports hilsa!

Famous for hilsa for ages, Bangladesh itself now imports the delicious fish, reveals Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque. Replying to a starred question from Sharif Ahmed (Mymensing-2) in Parliament yesterday, the fisheries minister said Bangladesh imports different species of fish, both sweet water and salt water varieties from various countries, and the list includes hilsa, reports UNB. However, Sayedul did not mention from which country Bangladesh imports hilsa. In 2014-15 fiscal, Bangladesh imported 97,384 metric tonnes of fish worth Tk 304 crore, the minister told the House.
