GOPALGANJ: State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim yesterday said the government has taken initiatives to make smartphone available for all in an effort to supplement the implementation process of building “Digital Bangladesh” by 2021, reports BSS. “We are working very sincerely to remove digital divide... As part of our initiatives, we are offering opportunities for rural people to make sure their access to ICT,” she told a function at Barni Union Parishad of the district.
While inaugurating broadband internet service at the union parishad, Tarana said the government has already talked to two multinational companies to provide smartphone with installment facilities for the rural people. Sitting at home, farmers will enjoy internet facilities through smartphone, she added.
Earlier, Tarana Halim paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mazar at Tungipara.
