A mortar shell was found at Ramkantapur village in Ullapara upazila yesterday afternoon. Kawshik Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Ullapara model police station, said timber trader Amzad Hossain of Charoimuri village has found the mortar shell while removing earth near the house of one Helal Uddin at Ramkantapur village in the afternoon. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the 82mm mortar shell. Police said such mortar shell was used by Pakistani occupation forces during the liberation war in 1971 and left it behind while retreating.
