DU team wins debate contest
Dhaka University Debating Club became champion in the university level of ‘Daffodil International University Debating Club (DIU DC) National Debate Festival’ which was held from January 21 to February 13, says a press release.
In college level --Saint Joseph College became champion and Government Science College became runner up while Motijheel Ideal School champion and Government Laboratory School became runner up in school level. A total of 32 university teams, 16 college teams and 24 school teams participated in the DIU DC National Debate Festival.
Dipu Moni, chairman of parliamentary standing committee on ministry foreign affairs, was present at the closing and award giving ceremony held on DIU Ashulia permanent campus on Saturday. Presided over by Md Sabur Khan, chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, Mizanur Rahman, chairman, National Human Rights Commission, was present as the guest of honour. The programme was addressed by Yousuf M Isalm, vice-chancellor, Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, AMM Hamidur Rahman, dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Farhana Helal Mehtab, moderator, Erfan Elahi Sharif , President DIU DC.
ULAB holds freshers’ reception
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised freshers’ reception for the students of Spring-2016 at ULAB seminar room on Thursday, says a press release.
The event has been organised to introduce the new students to the department, the faculties of the department as well as to the different wings of the ULAB Computer Programming Club. Sazzad Hossain, head of Department, CSE, advised new students about how they should prepare themselves within the Campus and encouraged active learning to ensure successful future.
HM Jahirul Haque, pro vice chancellor, ULAB and Mohammad Shorif Uddin, adviser of School of Science and Engineering, also delivered inspiring speech as chief and special guest of the event. All the faculties of CSE departments along with the students were present in the event.
