Two members of a family and three of their relatives -– all females –- suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out from a motorcycle parked near their ground floor main door in the capital’s Pallabi area yesterday, reports UNB.
Shamima, 43, her sister-in-law (husband’s sister) Amena Begum, 46, and their relatives -- Swapna, 20, Raina, 19, and Ridhita, 16, -- were sent to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Police said the motorcycle was kept beneath the staircase of a five-storey building on the ground floor. The motorbike suddenly caught fire around 8:30pm.
Panicked, the victims tried to get out of the house through the flame and got burned. It is unclear what caused the fire.
