‘Krishnapakkha’, a much-anticipated full-length Bangla feature film based on a novel by late popular writer Humayun Ahmed, will be premiered today at 12:30pm at the Balaka Cine world, in the city’s New Market area. The directorial debut film of Meher Afroz Shaon, which has successfully earned the attention of the audience for producing a series of interesting incidents, even before its release, was submitted to censor board on December 30 last year and received the approval on January 24 this year. Director Shaon earlier had planned to release the film on November 13 last year, on the day of Humayun Ahmed’s birthday. But the sudden illness of the lead actor Riaz during the shooting of the film caused its ultimate delay to see its release on the expected day.
Chief of Sales and Marketing of Channel i Ibne Hasan Khan informed that the release date of the film for the second time was set on January 29. But it was not possible again due to late submission to the censor board.
Produced by Impress Telefilm, popular actors Riaz and Mahiya Mahi have paired up together for the first time through the film. Among others, Ferdous, Tania Ahmed, Moutushi Biswas, Azad Abul Kalam, Kayes Ahemd and Faruk Ahmed have acted in the film. l
