AL-backed panel sweeps in Barisal Bar Assoc polls

Awami League-backed panel has swept Barisal District Bar Association elections yesterday. The AL-backed panel bagged 12 posts and BNP-led-19-party-alliance supported Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parished bagged 4 posts out of 16. Advocate Mojibor Rahman of AL-backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad elected president and Advocate Nazim Uddin Ahmmed Panna of BNP-led 19-party Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya elected as general secretary.
A total of 42 candidates in two panels-- supported by AL-led  grand alliance backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad (SASP), Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Patishad supported (JAOP) by  BNP-led-19 party alliance and part of Awami League backed Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishad (BAP) vied for the 16 posts of the lawyers body. A total of 708 voters out of 789 cast their votes on Thursday in the polls.
