Attack on UN base in Mali

Bangladeshi peacekeepers safe: ISPR

Three UN peacekeepers from Guinea were killed and 30 wounded in an attack on a UN base in Kidal, sources in the UN and the ISPR said yesterday. No Bangladeshi peacekeeper was injured in the attack. Eight mortar shells were fired at the base and there was also gunfire at about 7am of  the MINUSMA base in Kidal on Friday, said Olivier Salgado, a spokesman for the UN peacekeeping mission. The ISPR sources said that the Bangladesh peacekeepers are safe in the base. Bangladesh Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq will visit the camp in Mali, the ISPR sources informed.
