Cox’s Bazar: A ‘police informant’ was shot and stabbed to death by some miscreants on the Teknaf upazila parishad premises here early yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Selim alias Mundi Selim, a Myanmar citizen who used to live in Teknaf upazila for long. Local people said a group of 5 to 6 armed criminals swooped on Selim around 12:30 am and fired shots at him and later hacked him with sharp weapon to confirm his death. He was rushed to sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead. Ataur Rahman Khandaker, officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station, said police arrested Mohammad Haris, a councillor of no. 2 ward for his suspected involvement in the killing. A case was filed in this connection.
