Four people including three fishermen were killed and 10 others were hurt by lightning in Chandpur and Sherpur districts yesterday. In Chandpur three fishermen were killed and four others injured by lightning strike in Matlab South upazila of the district on Thursday. Witnesses said they were all fishing in the Dhonagoda river in Amirabad area. The dead fishermen were Jadav Chandra Das, 55, of South Baishpur village, Sabuj Das, 22, of Charotbhanga village and Jatindra Das ,45, of Meheron village in the upazila. They died on the spot. In Sherpur, thunderbolt killed a farmer and injured six children at the Tangaripara village in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Minto Mia, 40, a farmer of Tangariapara village, said local people, The injured were identified as Kader Hossain, 13, Nuzrul Islam, 16, Robin, 9, Ridoy, 7, Laboni,11, and Arif Mia, 14. Minto Mia’s was burnt to death as lightning struck him while he was working in the paddy field.
