25 die as live wire falls on Indian bus

At least 25 persons were electrocuted and 30 other injured yesterday when a bus in which they were travelling came in contact with a live wire in Pachewar area of Tonk district of Rajasthan, reports PTI. 25 deaths are confirmed and several others also received burn injuries, District Collector Rekha Gupta said.
Police and district administration officials have reached the spot, the DC said. The death toll is likely to increase, the SP Deepak Kumar said.
The private bus was carrying a marriage party from Baseda to Morla village in the district when the incident occurred in Pachewar area, about 70 kms from the district headquarters, Prabhati Lal Jat, SDO Malpura (Tonk district) said. Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria and agriculture minister Prabhu Lal Saini have also left for the incident spot.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje condoled the deaths and announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh from the energy department for the next of kin of the deceased. Raje also rushed Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, UDH Minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini, Energy minister Pushpendra Singh and a team of senior doctors from Jaipur to Tonk, an official release said.

Vidhyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL) are also on their way to the spot, it said.
Bachheda village resident Jai Rams son Ram Charan was slated to get married to former Morla sarpanch Ram Dhans daughter on Friday. Family and friends of the groom were headed to the wedding venue when the incident took place.
Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, Minister in-charge of the district Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Agriculture minister Prabhulal Saini, Energy minister Pushpendra Singh, IAS officer Gayatri Rathore along with an expert medical team was rushed to the spot.
