Bangladesh adopted a very cautious approach about tomorrow’s World Cup semifinal match against West Indies, the match which they will play for the first time in their history. And so, the chance they got they don’t miss to capitalize it to play in the final.
Since 1998 Bangladesh had played nine times after making its footstep in ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, where they are yet to lift the trophy or play in the semifinal spot. Their highest result was the fifth place that they achieved in 2006 by Shakib-Tamim-Mushfiq.
This time Basngladesh have come to the multi-national tournament with the high hopes of ending the drought of trophy. They are very close to bring their dream true. They entered the semifinal breaking the primary hurdles of the group and quarter final phase.
In the second semifinal, they will face-off against West Indies, the opponent they whitewashed 3-0 before the World Cup. But they are taking them seriously.
Both Bangladesh U-19 coach and skipper shared the same sentiment at their pre-match day press conference after their few hour-long practice sessions at National Cricket Academy Ground yesterday.
Keeping the semifinal in mind, Bangladesh coach Mizanur Rahman Babul said that they have been preparing themselves for the semifinal match.
“We’ve completed our preparation. Boys are in high rhythm. We’re raring for tomorrow’s match,” said Mizanur Rahman.
“We’ve played a three-match series against West Indies before the World Cup. They’ve a pacer, who is known well to our boys. They’ve good idea about him. We’re well–prepared to play against them,” Babul told media.
The coach said that they have formulated their game plan to defuse the key players of the opponent.
“Keeping the condition in mind we devise different planning for different matches. We try to play our game to see the strength of the opponent alongside the condition. Insallah we’ll play tomorrow in that manner,” he insisted.
“Their hard-hitter batsman could not make so many runs in the last few matches. Hopefully they’ll not be able to make big scores against us tomorrow,” he thought.
He said that they take it as a regular game to make it a pressure-less game.
“We see tomorrow’s match as a match. We don’t deem it as semifinal. We don’t take any pressure to take it as semifinal. We want to see it as a regular match. We’ll try to apply our game plan properly,” Babul, who has been with the U19 team since 2010, reckoned.
Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said that they will try to accumulate a decent total, which could be defended by our quality bowlers.
