IUB hosts World Poetry seminar

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a seminar on ‘Contemporary World Poetry’ and a recital by foreign poets on February 2 at its auditorium in Bashundhara area of the capital.  Four papers were presented on European, Arab and Asian Contemporary Poetry by Milan Richter of Slovakia, Bengt Berg of Sweden, Benaissa Bouhmala of Morocco and Fang Yaw-chein from Taiwan.  The seminar was followed by a recital session, participated by poets Lin Fo-er, Lee Rou-ying, Tai Chin-cho, Chen Xiu-zen and Lee Kuei-shien.
IUB Vice Chancellor M Omar Rahman attended the programme as chief guest, while poet Aminur Rahman, president of Kathak, was the special guest. Towhid Samad, former chairman of IUB Board of Trust, delivered the concluding remarks.
