Khaled Khan remembered

Late noted theatre activist and actor Khaled Khan, popularly known as Juboraj, was remembered on his 59th birthday in a befitting manner through a programme titled ‘Juborajer Jonmo Sondhya’ at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday.  
The programme started with a rendition of Khaled Khan’s wife Mita Haque and his daughter Joyita. Organized by Juboraj Songha, eminent media personalities Nasir Uddin Yusuf and Mofidul Islam, among others, attended the programme to recall their memories of the vibrant personality Khaled Khan.
In the programme, Papia Sarwar, Shonchoyeta Dutta, Bulbul Islam, Mamun Jahid and Vujon Baul render various songs, while Naila Tarannum, Golam Sarwar and Jahitul Haque recited poems that were popular to Khaled Khan.
Born in 1958, Khaled Khan joined the theatre group Nagorik Natya Sampradaya in 1978. He acted in over 30 plays of the group and directed over 10. Khaled Khan won the hearts of viewers through playing the role of a barrister in ‘Swapna Mrittu Bhalobasa’ and gained popularity for his bold and lively performance in numerous plays both on the small screen and theatre.
His notable acting performances in theatre production are ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’, ‘Nurul Diner Sara Jibon’, ‘Galileo’, ‘Roktokorobi’ and ‘Dorpon’.
He had also directed ‘Muktodhara’, ‘Putul Khela’, ‘Kalshondhay’, ‘Master Builder’, ‘Khudito Pashan’ and many more. He received ‘Mohammad Zakaria Padak’ for his contribution in the theatre, ‘Nurunnahar Memorial Award’ as best actor ‘CJFB’ award as best director and ‘Impress-Anyadin’ award as best TV actor.
Khaled Khan breathed his last on December 20 in 2013.  l
