Moulvibazar: A court on Tuesday convicted a member of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and sentenced him to seven years’ jail for his involvement in a bomb attack in 2005 at Pothimpasha village in Kulaura upazila, reports UNB.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to serve six months more of rigorous imprisonment.
Additional Sessions Judge of Special Tribunal- 2 Mohammad Alim Ullah Chowdhury handed down the verdict as he found Maruf Mohammad Ishak guilty.
The court also acquitted two others from the case.
Earlier, on February 2, 2005, members of JMB hurled crude bombs at Nabab Ali’s house at Pothimpasha village in Kulaura upazila. Villagers then caught Maruf and two others as they tried to flee.
