MetLife Foundation and Swisscontact jointly launched a project titled ‘Financial Inclusion for Readymade Garment Workers in Bangladesh’ at Radius Centre in Gulshan in the capital recently, says a press release.
The launch event also featured of a discussion session on financial inclusion, its opportunities and challenges in Bangladesh.
Dr Nirmala Menon, head of designated markets and health, Asia of MetLife, and Md Nurul Islam, regional senior vice president, head of Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar were among the senior leaders of MetLife present in the programme. Representatives of Swisscontact included Anirban Bhowmik, head of portfolio and quality South Asia.
The topics of discussion included various projects and initiatives funded by MetLife Foundation in Bangladesh and successes and challenges regarding financial inclusion in the country.
Dr Menon said, ‘I’d like to thank all our development partners in realizing the ‘financial inclusion’ vision of MetLife Foundation. Because all of you take such interest in looking at how to improve the lives of the poor and the very poor, that keeps the hope going forward.’
MetLife Foundation was created in 1976 to continue MetLife’s long tradition of corporate contributions and community involvement.
