Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday said the country has earned $90.11 million exporting different kinds of electric items to several countries in the financial year 2014-5, reports BSS.
The industries minister said this in the Jatiya Sangsad while replying to a question from treasury bench Begum Pinu Khan.
He said the government has taken necessary measures to increase export to different countries including the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Austria, Australia, Bhutan, and Canada.
He said the government has also adopted various measures to ensure compliance of the export industries to enhance the export of electric items.
He also said steps have also been taken to increase port capacity, introduce business friendly banking system, build light engineering village, distribute internationally recognized certificates among traders for this purpose.
The government has been providing 15 per cent subsidy to light engineering sector to enhance the export facilities, he added. Besides, the government has instructed the Bangladesh missions abroad be more business friendly, he added.
