IU theatre stages drama 'Ora Kadam Ali'
KUSHTIA:  The Bishwabidyalay Theatre (Bithi), a cultural organisation of Islamic University (IU), staged a drama named 'Ora Kadam Ali' at the central auditorium of the university yesterday.
The drama was directed and produced by the eminent dramatist Mamunur Rashid.
Dr Shahjahan Mondal, Dr Reba Mondal, Dr Dipak Kumar Pal, Dr Kamrul Hasan, and students were present there, among others, while President of Bishwabidyalay Theatre Emad Uddin Khan chaired the program.
The actors of the drama were --Emdad Uddin, Minhaj, Kadir, Alpona, Apon, Shaon, Tarikul Islam Nazrul, Ashik Bony, among others.

DU Dean's Award for Arts faculty today

Dhaka University will confer Dean's Award to meritorious students of different disciplines under Arts Faculty for their outstanding results in Honours and Masters Examination of 2013 and 2014 academic years today.
DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique will join the award giving ceremony as the chief guest at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at 10.30 am, a DU press release said. Arts Faculty Dean Professor Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman will chair the function.

Orientation programme held at KU

KHULNA: The orientation programme for the students of first year honours courses of Khulna University (KU) under academic year 2015-16 was held at the second academic building of KU on Tuesday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid as chief guest advised the students should groom themselves as competent citizens by engaging in extra-curricular and creative activities with their regular academic feat.  “It is a place where you will learn more than what you will be taught in the classroom”, he said. Minister Nahid also advised them to do research-based studies utilising the facilities and resources provided by the university.
Education Minister Nahid asked the students not only confine to formal education provided by the university rather the students need to be involved in moral education which may contribute the students to make complete human being in the society.
KU Vice-chancellor Md Fayek-Uzzaman presided over the function. Treasurer of KU Khan Atiar Rahman, Director of Student Affairs’ of KU Anirban Mostafa were present as special guests. Dean of Science, Engineering and Technology Discipline Ishmat Kadir delivered the welcome speech.

Freshers’ reception held at ASAUB
The Department of English, ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) organised a Freshers’ Reception for its newly enrolled students in Spring-2016 Semester on Sunday, says a press release.
Md Shafiqual Haque Choudhury, chairman, Board of Trustees, ASAUB, was the chief guest while Dalem Ch Barman, vice-chancellor of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB), was the special guest of the occasion.  Abu Daud Hasan, dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, presided over the programme. Md Khalequzzaman, registrar of ASAUB, spoke on the occasion.  Diana Ansarey, assistant professor, Department of English gave the welcome speech in the program.
