Dhaka has requested London to make the visa process easier for Bangladeshi citizens. Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali made the request during his maiden meeting with newly appointed British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alison Blake at the former’s office yesterday, said a foreign ministry press release. In response, the British high commissioner assured of doing everything possible on her part to make the visa process easier for Bangladeshis. Welcoming the envoy to Bangladesh, Foreign Minister Ali said that Dhaka-London relationship goes back a long way and that the UK is Bangladesh’s tested friend. He recalled the contribution of the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UK to the development of the bilateral relationship between the two countries. British envoy Blake agreed with the minister on the issue. Wishing the envoy a successful tenure, the foreign minister assured her of every assistance on behalf of the ministry.
