Top criminal killed in gunfight with cops

A top criminal was gunned down by police in a gun-battle at Tatapara area of Madhabdi municipality in Narsingdi Sadar upazila around 5.15am yesterday. The slain criminal was identified as Arif, 26, son of Abdul Halim of Uttar Birampur area under Madhabdi municipality of Narsingdi Sadar upazila. According to sources in the Detective Branch (DB) of the police, a DB team, led by sub-inspector Rupom Sarker, acting on a tip-off, raided the Tatapara area when a gang of seven or eight criminals, headed by Arif, was getting ready to hold a meeting to plan a crime.
