Three people, including a women and her son, were killed after a bus knocked down an auto-rickshaw on Tangail-Mymensingh road yesterday near Goma bus stand in Madhupur. SK Tuhin, officer of Madhupur Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the accident occurred when a bus of Prantik Paribahan coming from Tangail hit an auto-rickshaw at about 8.30 am, leaving Bedena Begum, 65, and his son Farhad, 35, driver of the three-wheeler, dead on the spot and injuring auto-rickshaw passenger Ashraful Islam, 35, of Bakerkona village. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. Officer-in-Charge of Madhupur Police Station Shafiqul Islam said local people barricaded the road protesting the accident. Later, local administration persuaded the agitating people to withdraw the barricade at about 10 am.
