At least four houses and five shops were gutted by fire at Korismunshi Bazar in Dragonbhuiyan upazila in Feni town early yesterday.
Witnesses and locals said the fire was thought to be originated from an electric short-circuit.
The fire spread to nearby shops and houses.
Jewelry, fertiliser, salon and cosmetic shops were destroyed.
Three units of firefighting engines rushed to the spot and after one hour of efforts they could bring the fire under control, said fire service officials.
According to the shop owners, the estimated loss was Tk 50 lakh.
