The Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Ministry has targeted to invite 100 percent tender of the LGED through electronic government procurement (e-GP) by 2016, reports BSS.
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain disclosed this in the Jatiya Sangsad, while replying to a question from independent member Rahim Ullah from Feni-3 yesterday.
”The local government and engineering department (LGED) floated at least 90 per cent of its tenders by following the e-GP or e-tendering system and 100 percent would be implemented by 2016 to ensure transparency in floating and receiving tenders,” he said.
He informed the House that the government formed 19 inspection teams at the LGED headquarter level to ensure quality of development works.
Additional chief engineer at the divisional level and zonal superintendent engineers at 14 zones would submit their inspection reports on implementation of the development projects, Moshrraf said.
Besides, the ministry formed 22 inspection teams for monitoring the development programmes and the ministry usually takes necessary measures on the basis of the inspection reports, he added.
