The final round of the Bangabanbdhu Gold Cup (boys) and Bangabamata Gold Cup (Girls) football tournament, the biggest school football competition, will begin from today with Chittagong Division champions Ghagra Government Primary School (Boys) taking on Sylhet Champions Jaintapur Primary School at the Dhaka University ground.
The final will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on February 16 with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be present as chief guest.
A total of 65 thousands government primary schools participated in the competition across the country began at the midway of last year from Union, Upazila, districts stage and then the seven divisional champions moved into the final phase.
Minister of the Primary and Mass Education Mostafizur Rahman will inaugurate the final round of the competition as chief guest.
Mostafizur Rahman looked very much enthusiastic with the competition when he addressing in the press conference yesterday at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban regarding the tournament.
The Minister while replying to a query said that here would be no crisis of money to groom the talented players from this competition.
Mostafizur Rahman also informed that the UNICEF are also interested to join with this huge occasion for the children.
Badal Roy, vice-president of the BFF said that they will manage training programme for the talented booters and he thinks that it is one of the important and main pipeline to produce players.
Badal Roy also said that they are trying to include this in the Guinness Book of World Record , as they (BFF) thinks that it is the biggest football tournament with the involvement of highest number of teams in allover the world.
