Ace golfer Siddikur Rahman vowed to show his best to achieve a good result when the 2nd Bashundhara Bangladesh Open will begin today at Kurmitola Golf Club course in the capital. The four day tournament will end February 13.
The event will be an Asian Tour Professional Tournament and it is expected that about 135 pro-golfer drawn from 35 countries would take part in the 72-hole four-day tournament. All the players have already arrived in the capital and took part in a warmed-up  to adjust with the local condition. In this Pro-Am tournament, Bangladesh Siddikur Rahman finished runner-up.
Hosts Bangladesh will field 25 professional and five amateur golfers other than Siddik who is chasing third Asian Tour title.
Siddik, who just returned home on Monday night after taking part in Singapore Open and Myanmar Open, told media at the official press conference at Kurmitola yesterday that this time he is in good shape. “Yes last time I could not get my expected result as I was not in good shape due to an injury. By this time I almost fully recover the injury and would not hesitate to use the home ground advantage.”
“I’m excited to play on a new look golf course. Not only me other Bangladesh players are also in a good track to give a good account of themselves.”
“I can’t point out any specific challenger to me as you know a very good number of leading players from around the globe are here to play in the prestigious Asian Tour event,” he said while replying to a question.
Jitti Sak, tournament director,  golfers Yikeun Chang of Korea and Casey O’Toole of USA, Lt Col (retd) Khandaker Wahed, advisor to Bashundhara Group and Brig Gen (retd) Sayed Siddiki, secretary general of Bangladesh Golf Federation, also spoke on the occasion.
Like previous time, Bashundhara Group will sponsor the tournament at a cost of $31.50 which included 30 lakh dollars for prize money. The champion will earn 18 per cent of the total prize money.
