Properties worth Tk 2 cr gutted

At least six persons were injured, 17 houses totally gutted and properties worth Taka 2 crore were damaged in a devastating fire that  breaks out on Monday night at about 7:15pm in Vatikhana road area of the city.
Official sources said that the fire originated from a and electric short circuit in a rental house of one Barek Mia.
Later it was engulfed adjacent to other 16 houses. Four units of the Barisal Fire Service rushed to the spot and doused the fire after one hour.
Nitta Gopal Das, assistant director of Barisal Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the injured were taken first aid from local hospital in the city and properties worth Tk minimum 2 crore were damaged by the fire.  17 families have lost their belongings.
City mayor, MP and other public representatives and officials of district administration visited the spot and assured to giving support to the victims of the incident.
