Sir,
Recently Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her firm desire to get her treatment done in Bangladesh if she falls sick (may God always keep her in good health).
The above mentioned will of the PM reflects her greatness and deep respect for the country’s medical facility. We are greatly inspired by her words and wish.
Meanwhile it is true that every year a lot of Bangladeshis travel to India, Thailand, Singapore and other countries for treatment by spending a huge amount of foreign currency. This is really unfortunate.
But there is no doubt that some critical situation has been compelling the Bangladeshi patients to go abroad for receiving better treatment by spending all their financial
resources.
It is not that we do not have enough medical facilities and highly qualified doctors but in many cases patients get frustrated and decides to go abroad (majority to our neighboring country) for treatment.
I think the open and hidden cause(s) of lack of credibility of our medical system and facilities needs proper evaluation for dispensing appropriate measures to removing the lapse and gaps.
I am confident that the medical sector will reach to a new height under the dynamic and able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Yours truly,
