Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday told parliament that free of cost diagnose and medicare services are provided to cancer-affected people from all specialised hospitals across the country, reports BSS. The minister said this while replying to a supplementary question of treasury bench member Kazi Rozi during the question and answer session in the parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. He said, "In December 2015, I announced conducting free of cost diagnosis of cancer and in line with the announcement National Cancer Institute last year conducted medical checkup of 199 of poor women. Of them, 141 were identified as cancer patients. All these patients were given free of cost treatment." The minister underscored the need for building awareness among the mass people specially women about this fatal disease. Responding to a query of ruling party lawmaker Moazzem Hossain, Nasim called upon all members of parliament (MPs) to carry out a regular monitoring of the hospitals in their respective constituencies for ensuring proper treatment of the patients and checking negligence duties by the physicians.
