118 new books arrive

A total of 118 new books arrived at the fair yesterday and covers of 3 books were unveiled at the Nazrul Mancha while a total of 692 books have arrived so far.
On the other hand the ongoing month long fair organised by the Bangla Academy gets a new dimension and also a great looks as fifteen colorful pavilions added on the fair premises. Pavilions have been set up by different publishers and UPL, Anna Prakash, Anupam, Mawla Brothers, Sahitya Prakash, Agami Prakash at the book fair premises.
In this regard Sumsuzzaman Khan Director of Bangla Academy said, ‘We have taken such kind of initiatives both for the sellers and the buyers so they could sell and buy books easily”.
Besides, different publishers who have been sanctioned pavilions expressed their satisfaction and also thanked the Bangla Academy authorities for taking such kinds of initiatives.
Kamruzzaman, sales executive of the UPL pavilions, said that it helps publishers to display all of their books with a nice decoration. The pavilion of Bangla Academy at the Shurawardy Udayan fair ground has been made with the shape of the Bardaman House.
Sumi, a student of European University at Mirpur, said this year people can move easily at the fair premises and the pavilions are really looking good.
“I hope the Bangla Academy authorities will increase the number of the pavilions in future” she added. University Press Limited (UPL) stole the show at the fair this year, with their pavilion made of a mammoth-sized stack of books. Customers literally entre the pages of the books to enter their stall.
Anya Prakash built their stall with a giant-sized poster of Humayun Ahmed and shape of his some books that gleefully welcomes the visitors. Even some publishing houses that were not allocated pavilions worked on the appearance of their stalls. Kureghar publication maintained a theme of rural Bangladesh, Granthakathir built its stall with the shape of a tin-shade home seen in rural area of the country and Sadar Prokashani has used an artificial structure of the National Memorial of the country.
At the children’s corner, the stall Sisimpur has been decorated with many big posters of characters like Haloom, Ikri, Toktuki of the popular TV serial.
