Indian three-pieces seized  
Benapole: Detectives seized a truckload of Indian contraband three-pieces worth Tk13 lakh from Khajura bus stand area in Uposhohor of Jessore town on Saturday night, reports UNB.
Kamruzzaman, sub-inspector of the Detective Branch of police, Jessore, said being informed that a truck carrying smuggled three-pieces was going to Dhaka, they conducted a drive in Khajura bus stand area at 12:30am.
They seized the truck carrying 660 Indian three-pieces brought from India through Satkhira border.

Body recovered in Jessore

Police yesterday recovered the body of an unidentified man at Bablatala in Jessore town.
Ilias Hossain, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station, said police recovered the body of the unidentified man about 25 from beneath the Bablatala Bridge. “The body bears marks of stab injuries,” he added.
Postmortem of the body was done at Jessore Medical College Hospital yesterday.  
2 held with firearms, ammo Chapainawabganj: Members of Rapid Action Battalion in a drive arrested two young men along with two firearms and some bullets and magazines from Daulatbari border area in Shibganj upazila on early yesterday, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Atiqul Islam, 27, son of Tafzul Haque, and Jabdul Haque, 30, son of Jahangir, a resident of the village.Major Abdus Salam, camp commander of RAB-5, said on secret information, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at the village around 3am and arrested the duo along with two pistols, 14 rounds of bullet and four magazines.

SSC examinee ‘kills self’
Benapole: An SSC examinee reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house at Gaira village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Saturday night, reports UNB.
Quoting locals, police said Mukta Khatun, 19, a student of Benapole High School and daughter of Hossain Ali of the village, hanged herself with the ceiling of her room at night following a family feud.

Farmer electrocuted
Kurigram: A farmer died from electrocution at Madhupur village in Ulipur upazila on Saturday, reports UNB. Jamir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ulipur police station, said Angkon, 30, came in contact with a live wire of an irrigation pump in his cropland at the village in the afternoon and was injured critically.
      Later, he was rushed to Ulipur upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
