BNP meet Wednesday to discuss party council
BNP standing committee members will meet on Wednesday to discuss and form different committees in preparation of the partys proposed national council, which is likely to be held on March 19. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has called for a meeting of the partys standing committee at her Gulshan political office at 8:30pm on Wednesday, according to party sources. The formation of council preparatory committee and other sub-committees will take a step forward to hold the party council within the stipulated time, sources added.
The meeting will also discuss and review the latest development in the political arena and strategies for the partys next course of action BNP standing committee member Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman said the standing committee meeting has no fixed agenda but different issues including the national council and its venue may come up for discussion.
On formation of different committees for the overdue national council, he said some leaders are working on it.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabri Rizvi Ahmed said the process to form different committees for the council was under process.
The committees are likely to be formed soon, he said. Assistant Policy Secretary Imran Saleh Prince also said the draft of the council preparatory committee and other sub-committees were being prepared. The party has already applied to the authorities concerned seeking permission to arrange its council on March 19 at any one of three city venues. The party also have got response from Public Works Department for using Suhrawardy Udyan depending on police permission. BNP standing committee last met on January 23.
