Seven players of the national team, who found ‘wrong’ during the SAFF Football Championship held in January 23 to February 3, will see punishment for different terms as the executive committee of BFF approved the report of the fact finding committee and recommended to the National Team Committee (NTC).
Abdus Salam Murshedi, the senior vice-president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), informed the reporters after their 11th meeting of the executive committee yesterday.
Ateequr Rahman Mishu, Zahid Hassan Emily, Sohel Rana, Zahid Hossain, Yamin Munna, Mamun Islam and Shahed Islam Sohel are the seven footballers who have been reported not to perform their usual performance.
Salam said that they did not make any changes to the ‘Fact Finding’ committee report and approved it unanimously and sent it to the chairman of the NTC Kazi Nabil Ahmed, also the vice-president of BFF, who will disclose it very soon.
Bangladesh national team did woeful results in the SAFF Championship when they were eliminated from the group stage after conceding defeats to Afghanistan (4-0) and Maldives (1-3) and could manage only a win against Bhutan (3-0).
Following the debacle in the SAFF, BFF formed the ‘Fact Finding’ committee to unearth the reasons behind the worst result.
“We have already received all the reports from the ‘Fact Finishing’ committee and we did not include or exclude any of their reports just after reading out on the board, we approved it and submitted to the National Team Committee Chairman.”
