Candidates of the 34th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service, who are yet to get any posts, blocked Shahbagh intersection in the capital for half an hour yesterday to push for their three-point charter of demands that includes a review of 34th BCS results eradicating all inconsistencies.
Students under the banner of ‘Deprived Candidates of 34th BCS’ blocked the intersection from 11:15am to 11:45pm, halting vehicle movement in the area.
Later, police baton charged to disperse the demonstrators and detained its coordinator Nur Islam Nur and two others.
The protestors then gathered in front of the National Museum and chanted slogans to press home their demands.
However, Ramna Zone Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Khan told reporters that there was no incident of baton charge by police.
