This year a good numbers of books written and edited by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are available at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair and demand of the books are high at the fair.
Saikat one of the stall attendances of Agami Publications, said “Everyday a number of readers visit our stalls and ask for those books written or edited by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”.
Booklovers of different ages are interested in her (PM) books, as a result the sell rate of PM’s book is high” he added.
Farhad Uddin from Dhaka University, who were searching for PM’s books, said “Prime Minister is one of my favourite politicians and that is why I am curious about her books”.
“So that I could come to know in depth about her views about politics as well as the country” he added.
Agami Publications has published some books on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Quamrul Hasan Linkon, one of the co-coordinators of the stall, said the people are collecting books specially titled- ‘Living in Tears’, Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita, Democracy, Poverty Elimination and Peace and Shada-Kalo and Sohena Manobotar Abomanona and etc.
Meanwhile, this year different publications including Mawla Brothers, Juba Jagaran, University Press Limited etc have published books on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman, Prime Minister and Bangladesh Liberation War.
Bangla Academy sources said that there are almost new editions of 15 books have arrived at the book fair written and edited by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Besides, the second poetry book of Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, special assistant to the Prime Minister, launched on the premises of Ekushey Book Fair
yesterday.
The cover of the book, titled ‘Mon Kharaper Gari’, published by Anwesha Publications, was unveiled at a programme at the conference room of Bangla Academy at around 3:30 pm.
Artist Pijush Bandopaddhay conducted the programme while Sahadat Hossain publisher of Anwwesha Prokashoni delivered the welcome note.
Among others Prof Emeritus of Dhaka University and President of Bangla Academy Dr Anisuzzaman, Director General of Bangla Academy Dr Shamsuzzaman Khan, Editor of vernacular daily Dainik Samakal Golam Sarwar, Prof Dr Syed Manjurul Islam, Anisul Haque, Dhaka University Prof, Fakhrul Alam, eminent author Selina Hossain and MP Dr Dipu Moni were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, a discussion on “Diamond Jubilee of Bangla academy: research activities, past to present” was held at the main stage on the Bangla Academy premises.
Dr Firoz Mahmud presented a key note paper at the discussion.
With Prof Samsuzzaman in the chair, the discussion was also addressed, among others, Professor Asimanondo Gangapaddhay from India, Sahida Khatun and Nondolal Sharma.
