‘MV  Kalam Khan’ route permit cancelled

BIWTA authorities cancelled the route permit of MV Kalam Khan launch on the Barisal- Dhaka river route on Wednesday night at 8pm before 30 minutes of its departure for plying without balance with its abnormal structure. A notice in this regard was served to the Barisal Port Authority. The authorities also forced 500 passengers to leave the launch. Abul Bashar Majumdar, deputy director (river safety and traffic management) of BIWTA at Barisal acknowledging the fact said the launch was plying this route out of balance with its abnormal structure. He said the DG shipping authority give objection on the four deck structure of the launch before six months ago and cancelled its survey report. The authority ordered to cut off the 4th floor of the launch. The launch authorities got a four months’ stay order from the higher court over the DG shipping order.
