Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sayeed Khokon yesterday pledged to repair the dilapidated roads within the next eight months. He was speaking at a reception ceremony organised by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) at National Press Club yesterday afternoon. “There are ditches and pools in the local areas. I promise to repair those dilapidated streets within eight months,” he said. “There are many problems in the capital. We’ll provide polyethylene bags free to every house to keep the garbage in right places. The citizens have to be conscious to throw garbage in the dustbin,” he added. “Cent per cent of the street lights are functional. Some have got fused, we’ll also change them if you let us know,” he added. He pledged to set Wi-Fi at all the public places in DSCC area. “We are not sitting idle. We are monitoring kitchen market to control the prices of the daily commodities,” said Khokon. Among others, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, also president of JSD, spoke at the function.
