Internationally-acclaimed Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila will be honoured at the upcoming Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2015 ceremony for her contribution as a member of the jury board. The announcement came in the form of a letter from the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation on January 30. Runa Laila has revealed the news through her Facebook page yesterday.
Regarding this prestigious honour, Runa Laila said, “To be part of the jury board in the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2015 and to be honoured in it as well is a matter of great joy and pride. I see it as a sign of immense respect as a Bangladeshi artiste.”
Earlier in January this year, the melody queen was invited by India’s Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation to be part of the jury board for the upcoming Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2015, which is set to be held on April 30. She received a letter from the foundation’s managing trustee Ashfaq Khopikar on January 16 requesting her participation and she confirmed it on January 23.
To note, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award is regarded as India’s highest award in cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
