‘Omar Jallad’, as he was known for his cruelty in killing freedom fighters at the order of ‘Razakar’ commander Solaiman during the War of Liberation in 1971, was arrested in Narail by police yesterday. Omar Ali Shaikh, 65, of Barashula village in Narail municipality, used to slaughter freedom fighters and patriots upon orders from Razakar chief  Maulana Solaiman in 1971. Freedom fighter Sharif Humayun Kabir said in 1971, Omar Jallad and three others implemented the order of Razakar Commander Solaiman at the Judge Court Ghat (terminal) on the river Chitra.
