158 CNG 3-wheelers seized for not having registration
91 sued for plying sans metres in Ctg

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Bangladesh Road and Transport Authority (BRTA) in a drive yesterday seized 158 CNG-run auto- rickshaws for not having registration.
They also filed 91 cases against the owners for plying without metres till filing the report at 6:30pm.
On Monday over 1,000 cases were filed against the owners of CNG-run auto- rickshaws for plying without meters.
Mentionable that more than 3,000 CNG-run auto- rickshaws are plying the city road without BRTA registration, said the BRTA sources.
CMP Traffic Department filed the cases against the owners for defying government order to install meters in their vehicles within the deadline that expired on Sunday.
Contacted, AKM Shahidur Rahman, additional police commissioner (Traffic, Finance Administration) told The Independent, BRTA joined us yesterday as our drive against CNG-run auto- rickshaws is going on. We have seized 158 CNG-run auto- rickshaws for not having registration with BRTA.
We are on tough drive against the non-registered auto- rickshaws. The CNG-run auto- rickshaws are plying the city with AFR (Applied For Registration) will be seized, we will not allow any CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the city without registration, said AKM Shahidur Rahman.
Mentionable, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader in a meeting in Chittagong on Sunday categorically said that CNG-run auto-rickshaws in Chittagong were supposed to ply on metres from November last year but the time was extended till January 31 upon request from the owners.
