Grzegorz W Kolondo, former prime minister and finance minister of Poland, has been awarded honourary life membership of Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) for his outstanding contribution to the policy analysis of comparative economic systems and pioneering role in shaping Polish reforms.
He received the award at a BEA Public Lecture on “Whither the World: The Political Economy of the Future” at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban in Dhaka University yesterday.
In his lecture, he said globalisation has a power-ful impact on economy. Therefore economists must always take account of the global context of economic events and processes.
Kolondo is founder director of Transformation, Integration and Globalisation Economic Research (TIGER), Kozminski University, Warsaw, Poland. He is the author and editor of over 40 books and 400 articles and research papers, published in 25 languages, much in English.
His recent books are ‘Whither the World: The Political Economy of the Future’, and ‘Truth, Errors and Lies: Politics and Economics in a Volatile World’.
Professor Kolodko is also a marathon runner and world traveller who has explored 125 countries.
