Bangladesh Telecommuni-cation Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will take action against the telecom operators who are availing services from the organisations which are not registered with Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN).
According to a letter issued by BTRC on Monday, the telecom operators must take services from NTTN operators and if the operators do not follow the rules, the regulator will take action against them according to the Telecom Act-2001.
The letter also said the telecom operators are taking services from BanglaPhone which is illegal as the company is operating without government approval.
BTRC issued permit in favour of Bangla Phone for leasing or sharing of E1, optical fiber, Duct and any telecom installation permit on August 4, 2009.
Latter, the commission renewed the permission in four stages and extended it till April 2015.
After that BTRC did not extend the permission and it has no plan to extending the permission further.
So, if any operator takes services from Bangla Phone, it will be illegal according to the law, the letter said.
The commission will take action if any of the operators takes service form Bangla Phone, the latter added.
According to the Telecom Act-2001, if any organisation defies BTRC policy, the commission has the authority to cancel its ilcence and fine the company.
Earlier, BTRC has asked Bangla Phone, a PSTN and ISP operator, to stop telecom transmission infrastructure service and ordered the company to pay 5.5 per cent of the due revenue within 10 days after receiving the notice from the regulator.
