The rural electrification activities have to be completed faster by setting up prepaid meter and modern and sustainable transmission system.
“Power distribution system will move faster by setting up prepaid metering system” said AR Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Energy Regu-latory Commission (BERC) at a conference of general managers of Palli Bidyut Samities (PBSs) under Rural Electrification Board in the capital recently, says a press statement.
Modern and regular substation must be set up instead of traditional substation for rapid electrification in rural areas. It is also needed to reduce the system loss, AR Khan added.
He farther said there is a need to create awareness among the subscribers through different initiatives to reduce energy waste.
He also put emphasis on solar panel system for power generation.
Major General Moin Uddin, chairman of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board, Rahman Murshid, member of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission, Masum-Al-Beruni, managing director of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, among other, were also present in the conference.
