Kathak Int�l Poets Summit 2016 held

The ‘Kathak International Poets Summit 2016’ was held on January 31 at National Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. Hosted by Kathak, Bangladesh-Poetry Initiative, the event mainly focuses on getting poets and poetry lovers together to define a path for the bilateral development and propagation of the poetic arts in Bangladesh and other countries of the world. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad was present as the chief guest on the occasion, while Swedish Ambassador Johan Frisell was present as the special guest at the event. This year, Swedish poet Bengt Berg, Slovakian poet Milan Richter, Dr Benaissa Bouhmala poet from Morocco and Dr Lee Kuei-shien poet from Taiwan have been awarded with ‘Kathak Literary Award 2016‘. Besides, noted poets from Taiwan Lin Fo-er, Lee Ruo-ying, Dr Fang Yaw-chien, Tai Chin-cho, Chen Xiu-zen and from Bangladesh Asad Chowdhury, Hayat Saif, Mohammad Nurul Huda, Habibullah Sirajee, Jahidul Huq and Aminur Rahman attended the summit. Director General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan presided over the summit. CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board Aktaruzzaman Khan Kabir handed over the souvenir to all the participant poets and the guests in the programme. Three books were launched in the programme, and those were ‘Prithibi Shera Samakaleen Char Kabir Kabita’ ‘Summit Anthology‘ and ‘Poesia De Nicaragua’. All these books are edited and translated by Poet Aminur Rahaman and published by Adorn Publication. To note, all the invited poets recited their poems during the inauguration of the summit.
