Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said yesterday that there is no possibility of question paper leak, as the government has taken stern steps to prevent it. The minister said this while talking to journalists after visiting the exam centre at the Tejgaon Government Girls' High School. The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams began yesterday. “The government has evolved strategies for preparing questions and distributing question papers. Because of this, it is not possible for anybody, including the education secretary and education board chairman, to know about the questions,” Nahid said. Iterating his earlier remark, the minister instructed teachers to give marks examinees deserve.
“Stern steps will be taken against examiners or officers who will push for more marks,” he added. After visiting the centre, the minister talked to guardians waiting outside and said all preparations have been taken to hold the exams in a fair and peaceful manner.
“There is no apprehension of question paper leak. Law enforcers have kept suspicious groups, including coaching centres, under surveillance to prevent leak,” he told the guardians. He said results of the public exams will be published within 60 days. Among others, education secretary Md Sohrab Hossain, director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (DSHE), Fahima Khatun, and chairman of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Dhaka, Abu Bakkar Siddique, were present on the occasion. The SSC and equivalent exams are being held at 3,143 centres across the country. In all, 16,15,523 students are appearing for the exams.
On the first day, 6,828 examinees were absent and seven students were expelled under the 10 education boards.
