Asia Cup 2016 to be held in new dimension

The upcoming edition of the Asia Cup 2016, which is knocking at the door to be held in new dimension in Bangladesh between February 26 and March 6.
The second largest cricket carnival after the World Cup will be played in Twenty20 format for the first time in Asia Cup folklore ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 2016 extravaganza.
  A total of five teams including four Asian Test playing nations of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh along with another team, who will come out from the qualifying round that has been introduced by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for the first time in the five-nation tournament.
With the participation of Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the six-matches qualifying round of the Asia Cup Twenty20 International 2016 hosted by Bangladesh for the fifth but third successive times since 1988, will be taken place at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah to be held from February 19 to 22.  Participating teams of the qualifying round are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from February 16-17.
“This time there will be huge opportunity for branding. A fence will be made by digital ad for the first time in Asia Cup beside the boundary line. But the fence at the qualifying round venue will be furnished by static ad,” said Rizwan Bin Faroque, managing director of Riz Event management.
“We are yet to get any company as the title sponsor for the multi-national tournament, which is booming day by day. A number of companies have showed their interest. Hopefully we could rope in any of them within the next few days,” Rizwan told media during the programme of the presenting Asia Cup sponsorship opportunities in a local city hotel yesterday.
The main round of the Asia Cup 2016 will be 11-match affair, to be started on February 24 and concludes on March 6.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh preliminary squad for Asia Cup and ICC World T20  returned to Dhaka after the end of the 23-day-long stay in Khulna. The bulk of the players left Dhaka for their respective villages after they got a vacation till February 6.
