Bangladesh iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan once again demoted to second place from the number-one spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Players Rankings for Twenty20 All-rounders, according to latest rankings released by ICC yesterday.
Shakib lost his number one spot to Australian hard-hitter Shane Watson, who captained in the third and last T20 International match in Sydney and scored an unbeaten 124 though his team was whitewashed by India in the three-match T20I series conceding defeat by seven wickets on Sunday.
Although Queensland-born all-rounder could not shine with his bat in the first two matches but he showed his prowess both with bat and ball in the third match. Finally he aggregated 151 (124*, 15, 12) with willow and three wickets (1-30, 0-17, 2-24) in the three-match T20 series.
By claiming 36 points, the right-handed all-rounder leapfrogged Shakib Al Hasan and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi to reclaim the number-one spot in the ICC Player Rankings for T20I All-rounders since 2012.
He is now in top with 363 points, while Shakib placed second with 349 and Afridi third with 330 points. Shakib earlier lost his number-one spot both in Test and one day internationals.
