The 30th National Poetry Festival has begun on Dhaka University's Central Library premises yesterday with the slogan of "peace and fraternity, reports BSS."
Versatile Writer Syed Shamsul Haq inaugurated the function at 10 in the morning, which was preceded by placing wreaths at the Language Martyrs' Monument. The festival started in 1987 to protest the autocratic rule prevailing then. Poets from rural areas of Bangladesh and also from India, Sweden, Norway, Morocco and Taiwan are attending the Festival this year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday handed over the prestigious Bangla Academy Shahitya Puroshkar to 11 personalities in recognition of their contributions to their respective fields, reports UNB.…
