Though the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela kicked off yesterday with huge enthusiasm among the book loving people but most of the publishers yet to set up their stalls, breaking the given time frame by the Bangla Academy authorities.
After visiting the Bangla Academy premises it was found that only a few stalls are ready to sell books at Bangla Academy. On the other hand, most of the stalls are not ready except some of the popular publications house on the premises of Suhrawardy Udyan. Jalal Uddin member secretary of Bangla Academy told The Independent “We if they do not finish their work timely, we will take actions against them” . “We also requested the publishers not to keep their wastage on the walking ground” he added. Besides a large number of visitors were seen waiting at the TSC area as they come to visit the book fair.
Especially the young people came to visit their favourite book fair on the first day. Imtiaz, a student of a private university, said t “I came with my friends to visit the fair on first day and seeing everything here I think the decoration of the stalls of the fair should be finished as soon as possible”.
